Streets of Intuition: KOZABURO SS25 in Motion
Share
From spiritual to streetwise, KOZABURO’s SIX/SCUTES captures raw intimacy and evolving craftsmanship across New York’s Canal Street.

In his SS25 collection titled SIX/SCUTES, KOZABURO departs from the dreamlike atmosphere of previous seasons and steps into something more grounded—more immediate. Shot on New York’s Canal Street with a cast of close friends and collaborators, the visuals feel less like a campaign and more like a shared moment, a quiet celebration of community and lived experience. This shift toward raw authenticity reflects designer Kozaburo Akasaka’s continued evolution—honoring tradition while stripping it of pretense.

The collection showcases meticulous craftsmanship while embracing material experimentation: naturally dyed Hex-Sashiko, serpentine knits, and reimagined denim evoke both texture and tactility. A standout Western shirt with subtle leather detailing bridges Eastern heritage and Americana influence, embodying KOZABURO’s dual cultural fluency.

What emerges is a meditation on transformation—how clothes move, age, and live with their wearer. SIX/SCUTES isn’t just a title; it’s a metaphor for shedding old skins and revealing what lies beneath. In KOZABURO’s world, garments are not static objects, but vessels of personal evolution—each stitch and seam infused with meaning, memory, and presence.
